Sewing with pre-made items is a great way to up cycle something you may not be using anymore. In most cases it will also speed up the timeframe for a completed project. Recently, I found several placemats that I purchased on clearance and in an ongoing process to keep my stash rotated and utilized, I decided to make some fabric boxes.
These little boxes sew up really fast and they would be useful in so many areas of your home. When choosing the placemats be mindful of the stiffness as it will considerably affect the finished product. If you are in need of soft safe storage in your kitchen, bath, kids room or nursery, these will really come in handy. As they are totally made of fabric, if the material can be washed, you should be able to keep them laundered also.
The pattern can be downloaded below and there are two options as you can see in the pictures. One is plain and the other has a tag on the front and a divider. These would be a great starter project for a first time seamstress because the project should be able to be completed in under an hour. I hope you have enjoyed this post, pass on what you have learned and are generous with what you make. Someone will appreciate your hard work!
