Fun Fabrics are easy to play and create with. Recently I was browsing in the remnant bin and I found this really great material. It is trademarked so not intended to make and sell projects commercially but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy sewing with it for gifts to special friends and loved ones. It was so bright and cheery I put it in my cart without thinking. The fact that it is flannel helped out too. I put it away and the other day I wanted to do some crafting but not something that I had to put a lot of thought or time into. Immediate gratification was my goal. I went through my stash and found this treasure and it hit me. Bookmarks! What a neat thing to sew and give away. These go together very quickly and easily. They would be a very nice prize for students who have made their reading quota or sew up several and keep them available to add to birthday presents instead of just a plain bow. I think teenagers might even like them to give to their friends at school. In any case, they definitely brighten up a book! Click on the downloadable pattern below. I hope you enjoy this project, share what you learn and are generous with what you make. Someone will appreciate your hard work. ![]()
Knitting is a great hobby to take up. It has become something of an acquired taste for me. Just like my sewing, I am not a fan of structured patterns and I also love quick projects. These three little shawls took about 3 to 4 hours each to complete including the embellishments. They are each done using a straight knit stitch. So basically you cast on enough rows to create the width you want your shawl to be and then knit until it is long enough and finish off your last row. Once complete, I turned one end over to make a "collar" on each and added some buttons or pins. If you or someone you know works in an office and they get cool during the day but don't want to wear a sweater, this is a perfect gift to make for them. Or it would be very nice to add to a plain top making any outfit look dressier. They are also pretty much one size fits all so making these and keeping them for that last minute birthday or shower gift would be a great idea. View the galleries below for more pictures on how these were made. You will see that the stitch is plain but using a beautiful yarn with just a little extra pizazz turns a simple craft into something really beautiful! I hope you have enjoyed this post, pass on what you have learned and are generous with what you make. Someone will appreciate your hard work!
Kids grow pretty fast and that means a never ending cycle of new clothes including sleepwear. Recently, one of my co workers had her daughter's clothes ready for a garage sale. I saw these pajamas in the pile and asked her if her daughter still liked them. She said she really did because they were able to connect to an app on her phone that read bedtime stories. Each one of the section of dots can be scanned by the app and the child can enjoy snuggling up to a real time story. You can purchase the PJ's here.(*no affiliation*) I thought what a waste to still love the stories but having outgrown the pajamas! So I grabbed them up and told her I would make something cute her daughter could keep for a few more years. Introducing the PJ Puppy. It wasn't hard to make and the material was broken in already so she is really cuddly. You could use any kind of pajamas your child loves. If you don't want to make a full stuffed animal, you could make just a pillow like the one in the picture your child can snuggle with. I hope you enjoy this post, share what you learn and are generous with what you make. Someone will appreciate your hard work! ![]()
