Stamping fabric is a fun way to incorporate quick detail to your project. I love to have several small items made up for last minute gifts for friends. These tissue covers are a unique item that can't easily be found in stores. Ladies always like to have tissues in their bag and they look even prettier when contained in a beautiful cover. Once I found a sewing pattern online that was easy to follow, I used a stamp I had on hand and an ink that was able to be heat set. Make sure you look at your ink stamp to verify this. When I had the design on the fabric, I used my iron to help it stay put. I had so much fun doing the tissue covers that I made a little zipper bag also. You can make so many different things using your stamps and fabrics that it may become an obsession for a while. I moved on to making several bookmarks. It really does make you feel satisfied to have a bundle of cute personal gifts ready to give. No occasion is necessary. Remember that sometimes when you are feeling down, giving something of yourself will immediately make you feel better! Just try to feel bad after seeing the smile on the receivers face. I hope you have enjoyed this post, share what you have learned and are generous with what you make. Someone will appreciate your hard work!
Seatbelt covers are a very easy project to sew. They are made even easier if you start with some pre-made materials. Your local Dollar Store should carry dish drying mats. They come in bright colors and are usually soft and cushy. They can be customized for yourself or a gift to a loved one. How awesome would it be for you to ride around with your brand inside your vehicle? It is a constant reminder of your creative side! Seatbelt covers really help with chafing that happens when you lean forward or look over your shoulder while driving. Even the gentlemen in your life will love that you thought about their comfort. On a long drive, these covers will make you feel more secure and they can be adjusted up and down on your seatbelt where you need the support most. That superhero fan would love one of these! If you are interested in creating your own easy seatbelt cover, download the pattern below. I hope you have enjoyed this post, pass on what you have learned and are generous with what you make. Sometimes I have a little helper in my craft room. His name is Jean Luc and he is a French Bulldog. Although pretty quiet he usually doesn't bother too much but on occasion being the quick puppy he is, Jean Luc will pilfer through my fabric stash when my back is turned. He was very interested in this little flannel remnant. If you look closely you can see little teeth marks on the wrapper. Instead of fussing at him I thought I would go ahead and sew a toy since he would not leave it alone. Now he is a playful puppy but until I made this he would not fetch anything and bring it back. I have tried every kind of bone, ball and stuffed animal but he would only stare at me when I threw them around our house. That is not a problem anymore. As you can see he loves carrying it around. I think because it is not round, his little flat face can grab it better. It also bounces really well and slides across our hardwood floors effortlessly. It is a lot of fun playing toss and fetch now. The small points on the ends are a perfect size for him to grab and chew also. This is great stimulation for him and keeps him busy. It looks like he's on guard and daring me to grab it. If you would like to sew a Puppy Pinwheel Toy for your friend, just click on the link below to download the pattern. I know your dog will love it! I hope you have enjoyed this post, pass on what you have learned and are generous with what you make. Someone "like Jean Luc" will appreciate your hard work! ![]()
Sewing with pre-made items is a great way to up cycle something you may not be using anymore. In most cases it will also speed up the timeframe for a completed project. Recently, I found several placemats that I purchased on clearance and in an ongoing process to keep my stash rotated and utilized, I decided to make some fabric boxes. These little boxes sew up really fast and they would be useful in so many areas of your home. When choosing the placemats be mindful of the stiffness as it will considerably affect the finished product. If you are in need of soft safe storage in your kitchen, bath, kids room or nursery, these will really come in handy. As they are totally made of fabric, if the material can be washed, you should be able to keep them laundered also. The pattern can be downloaded below and there are two options as you can see in the pictures. One is plain and the other has a tag on the front and a divider. These would be a great starter project for a first time seamstress because the project should be able to be completed in under an hour. I hope you have enjoyed this post, pass on what you have learned and are generous with what you make. Someone will appreciate your hard work! ![]()
