I purchased the Echidna Hooping Station in two sizes several months ago and I wanted to do a review after using it for a little while. I have been a fan of John Deer who is an Embroidery legend and have had the pleasure of meeting him several years ago at a sewing convention in Atlanta. I actually purchased my embroidery software from him and attended his digitizing training. He also has a You tube channel that is very informational and is one of the people I credit much of my embroidery knowledge to. I so appreciate how he freely shares his techniques. The Echidna Hooping Station is a product he endorses so I was intrigued when I began my research into adding it to my studio. Click the hyperlink above to be directed to his page to see embroidery knowledge and purchase the hooping station. I am not affiliated with him or his site but I want to rightfully acknowledge him. The order arrived very quickly and it came in flat boxes so there was some assembly. The pieces are minimal and one Phillips head screwdriver is all that is required. I was pleasantly surprised that they did send extra screws/parts in the order. That was an extra bonus. Don't you hate putting something together and not having all of the pieces? The stations did take up some of my working table so I had to make room for them. I have really enjoyed using them and now they are just a part of my working process. Here is just one of the ways I use them. If I am going to embroidery a polo shirt, I first mark my embroidery location with my chalk marker and placement ruler. I put my hoop on the board and secure stabilizer with the magnets that will come with the station. I slide the shirt over the station and use a small ruler to ensure it is centered in the hoop. Then the top hoop is carefully placed and the item is ready to embroider. Overall, I think if you are considering purchasing the Echidna Hooping Station, you will be pleased. It has become an integral part of my studio. I do have a You tube video that goes into a little more detail of my Pros and Cons. You can watch it below. I hope you have enjoyed this post, share what you learn and are generous with what you create. Someone will appreciate your hard work.

Thanks for taking the time to do a video review, including both the pros and the cons. I am hoping that in time, they will make these so that they can fold flatter, for easier storage. I also appreciate you that you pointed out that there are no markings on the surface. It seems that having marks or measurements would be beneficial.

That's a super video, and yes you have persuaded me! I was particularly happy that you showed them working with magnetic hoops.

Useful to see an independent review which includes pros and cons. I think I read that the smaller station will store within the larger station. Have you found this to be the case?

Lisa, The smaller unit will slide inside the larger one. They will both balance standing on either end as well so you have options of leaving them flat or tall for storage. I appreciate you stopping by my site.

Hello from Australia! Thank you for an objective review on these hooping stations. I’ve watched the YouTube video made by Echidna Sewing but of course they’re going to try to sell their own product so wanted something more independent. Like you, I was concerned about storage and also which size of station is best. However, I think I will get both. I don’t have a business and I don’t use my machine every day but I do use it a lot and feel that the hooping stations will be very useful in my sewing room.

Monica, I use mine regularly. In fact today while embroidering size small youth polo shirts. I have discovered that the two stations will allow for the smaller unit to “nest” or slide into the larger one. They will also stand/balance on one end like a clothespin and this has reduced their footprint in my studio. Thank you for stopping by and for commenting. 8/22/2021 02:29:24 pm
I left a review on 29 August last year, saying I was going to buy the stations, and I did.

Katharine you made my day! I am glad you purchased them and that you have had such great success. Yes I agree I can’t imagine trying to work without them now. Especially when I am doing multiples. Thanks for following up!

Hi Katherine. Thanks for your review and comments. I’m buying them online today! The more I read about them the more I am inspired and I have struggled over the weekend to get a good hoop and stabiliser placement on a quilt/doona/duvet cover (not sure what they’re called in your part of the world) Putting it bluntly it was a nightmare. And now I have the pillow slips to do too. Anyway, I’m looking forward to getting and using mine very soon! 9/6/2021 07:46:02 am
Hey Monica! Just wondered if you were happy with the hooping stations or not? (I mean I can't imagine that you're not, but just checking). Best regards, Katharine

Hi Katharine, I haven't used the hooping stations extensively yet, but when I have, it has been fantastic. I bought both sizes and have only used the larger one so far. I think the angle of the platten and the non-slip surface, are wonderful. I received plenty of extra hardware to assemble it too. Not that I needed it but it may be useful in the future. I also like that the smaller one sits inside the larger one, which is good for storage. I can see myself using both sizes of station a lot in the future. Kind regards, Monica Comments are closed.
